1. Get CLEAR Plus

CLEAR Plus is the most efficient way to speed up the security screening process. Now available at 59 airports nationwide, CLEAR Plus is an annual Membership that gives you expedited entry by verifying you are you. Simply step up to a CLEAR Pod and verify with your face, eyes, or fingers, and an Ambassador will bring you to the front of the security checkpoint.

By allowing you to quickly move through the identity verification step, CLEAR Plus lets you speed through security lines in minutes. A CLEAR Plus Membership is a must for every traveler—whether you fly frequently or just a few times a year.

2. Wear Travel-Ready Clothing

Instead of struggling to remove your shoes and other clothing items at security, it’s crucial to wear clothing that’s easy to get on and off. This will help you save time and ensure a stress-free journey.

As far as shoes, avoid boots or sneakers with complicated laces and straps. Instead, wear loafers, flats, or another type of slip-on shoe. Just don’t forget to wear socks—nobody likes to go barefoot on the airport floor.

Plan to go without a belt or wear one with a plastic buckle. Go ahead and remove any metal jewelry or other items before you get into the security line so you avoid activating the metal detectors.

Finally, make sure your laptop and larger electronic devices are easily accessible in your carry-on bag. Prepare the night before and try not to cram in too much. Pack your laptop in a dedicated bag or laptop sleeve, keep all your cables and accessories neatly organized, and layer your liquids in a clear plastic bag on top.

3. Book CLEAR Concierge to Get Help With Your Luggage

Especially if you have young children, using an airport concierge service like CLEAR Concierge can help you get through the airport with speed and ease. With this curb-to-gate service (exclusive to CLEAR Plus Members), an Ambassador will personally bring you through the CLEAR Plus Lane and help carry your bags. You can book Curb-to-CLEAR or Curb-to-Gate, depending on whether you want assistance through security only or to your gate.

4. Order Food and Drinks Ahead of Time

If you know you’ll be eating at the airport, it certainly doesn’t hurt to order your food or drinks ahead of time through the restaurant’s app rather than waiting in line. Though this is after security, it’ll still help you get to your gate faster. Pick a restaurant, download their app, and order online before you get to the airport—then you can simply grab and go!

5. Keep Documents Easily Accessible

When it comes to airport travel, it pays to think ahead. If you're checking in for your flight early (which is recommended), your boarding pass will be sent to your email. You can either print it or save it on your phone.

If you have a printed copy, keep the boarding pass in an easily accessible spot, along with your passport or driver's license. It's always best to have all your documents handy in your carry-on bag, to make it easier at airport security. And, the less stuff you have in your carry-on, the better. Pack as minimally as possible so it's easy to access what you need at a moment's notice.

6. Arrive Early

Giving yourself an extra 20 minutes to get through security is always a good idea, even if you’re a member of the airport quick pass programs. Whatever time you think you have to be at the airport, get there 20 minutes earlier. This will usually keep stress at bay, giving you ample time to get through security, find your gate, and relax before your flight. If you end up getting to your gate earlier than expected, you can always relax with a glass of wine or a good book—which is much more enjoyable than sprinting through the terminal.

Join CLEAR Plus today, and you’ll enjoy a faster, easier airport security experience every time you travel. Whether you’re planning a holiday vacation or weekend getaway, or wondering what is Travel Tuesday, CLEAR Plus is the key to getting your journey started right.
